Salient Natural Zeolite Statistics

Home > Minerals > Zeolites

This table presents key quantitative data on natural zeolite production, sales, exports, and imports within the United States, alongside global production figures, spanning the years 2018 through 2022. Natural zeolites are microporous minerals widely utilized in industries such as agriculture, water purification, and construction due to their adsorption and ion-exchange properties. Tracking these statistics is crucial for understanding market dynamics, supply chain stability, and economic contributions of natural zeolite mining and processing, which in turn supports informed decision-making for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers.

Analysis of the data reveals that U.S. production of natural zeolite experienced a general decline over the five-year period, dropping from 86,100 metric tons in 2018 to an estimated 77,400 metric tons in 2022. Sales followed a similar trend, decreasing from 80,500 metric tons in 2018 to 73,900 metric tons in 2021 before rebounding to 79,800 metric tons in 2022. Despite these fluctuations, exports and imports remained minimal, each consistently under 1,000 metric tons annually, indicating a largely domestic market. On the global scale, production peaked at 1,180,000 metric tons in 2021 but fell back to 1,090,000 metric tons in 2022, mirroring the U.S. decline. These trends suggest a tightening supply environment in recent years, with potential implications for industries reliant on natural zeolites.
