U.S. Exports Of Tungsten Metal Powders, By Country Or Locality

Home > Minerals > Tungsten

This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of tungsten metal powders exported from the United States to various countries and localities. It includes both the gross weight and estimated tungsten content of the exports, along with their corresponding monetary values. This information is crucial for understanding the role of tungsten in international trade, as tungsten metal powders are essential raw materials used in manufacturing hard metals, electronics, aerospace components, and defense applications. Tracking export trends helps assess the competitiveness of the U.S. tungsten industry, informs trade policy decisions, and supports strategic resource management.

Analysis of the data reveals a significant increase in U.S. exports of tungsten metal powders from 2020 to 2021. Total gross weight exports nearly tripled, rising from 256 metric tons in 2020 to 687 metric tons in 2021, while the estimated tungsten content increased from 205 to 550 metric tons. Correspondingly, the total export value more than doubled, climbing from $13.4 million to $26.9 million. Canada emerged as the largest recipient, with exports soaring from 113 metric tons (90 metric tons tungsten content) valued at $5.22 million in 2020 to 514 metric tons (412 metric tons tungsten content) worth $18 million in 2021. Other notable increases include Germany, which saw its exports jump from 10 to 48 metric tons gross weight, and South Africa, which nearly doubled from 5 to 9 metric tons. Conversely, some countries like India and the Netherlands experienced declines in both quantity and value. The United Arab Emirates showed a remarkable turnaround, moving from negligible exports in 2020 to 9 metric tons in 2021. These shifts indicate evolving global demand patterns and highlight key international markets for U.S. tungsten metal powders.
