This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of sulfuric acid exports from the United States to various countries and localities. Sulfuric acid is a critical industrial chemical used extensively in fertilizer production, mineral processing, chemical manufacturing, and petroleum refining. Tracking export volumes and values by destination provides insight into international demand patterns, trade relationships, and the economic significance of this commodity to the U.S. chemical sector. Such information is valuable for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and analysts monitoring market dynamics and supply chain dependencies.
In 2023, total U.S. exports of sulfuric acid decreased significantly to 197,000 metric tons from 298,000 metric tons in 2022, while the total export value rose to $38.2 million from $34.6 million. Canada remained the largest importer, receiving 123,000 metric tons, down from 177,000 metric tons the previous year, but the value of exports to Canada increased from $15.7 million to $18.2 million, indicating higher prices or a shift to higher-value grades. Mexico showed a notable increase in quantity exported, more than doubling from 21,700 to 51,500 metric tons, with value rising from $6.39 million to $8.47 million. Conversely, exports to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica declined sharply in both quantity and value. Saudi Arabia’s exports dropped drastically from 54,700 metric tons to just 4,280 metric tons, yet the value increased from $921,000 to $5.05 million, suggesting a change in product quality or pricing. New exports to Uruguay appeared in 2023, totaling 4,000 metric tons valued at $484,000. These shifts reflect evolving trade patterns and market conditions affecting U.S. sulfuric acid exports.
