This table presents the global production of celestite, a mineral primarily used as a source of strontium for applications in electronics, pyrotechnics, and metal alloys. The data is organized by country or locality and spans from 2020 to 2024, providing valuable insights into production trends and shifts in the mineral supply chain. Understanding these figures is crucial for industries reliant on celestite, as fluctuations in output can impact raw material availability, pricing, and strategic planning for both domestic and international markets.
Analysis of the data reveals that Iran remains the leading producer, consistently maintaining an estimated output of 200,000 metric tons annually from 2021 through 2024. Spain showed significant volatility, with production peaking at 234,000 metric tons in 2021 before sharply declining to 64,000 metric tons in 2023, then rebounding to an estimated 100,000 metric tons in 2024. Mexico's production has generally decreased over the period, dropping from 38,304 metric tons in 2020 to 18,862 metric tons in 2024. China’s output has remained stable at around 80,000 metric tons per year. Overall world production peaked at 536,000 metric tons in 2021 but declined to a revised 373,000 metric tons in 2023, with a slight recovery to an estimated 400,000 metric tons in 2024. These trends highlight shifting dynamics in celestite supply, with Iran’s steady production contrasting with more variable outputs from Spain and Mexico.

1Table includes data available through July 8, 2025. All data are reported unless otherwise noted; totals may include estimated data. Totals and estimated data are rounded to no more than three significant digits; may not add to totals shown.
2In addition to the countries and (or) localities listed, Tajikistan and Turkey may have produced celestite, but available information was inadequate to make reliable estimates of output.
