This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of refined silver exported from the United States to various countries and localities, categorized by product type—ores and concentrates, bullion, and dore. Tracking these exports is crucial for understanding the U.S. position in the global silver market, as silver plays a vital role in industrial applications such as electronics, photovoltaics, and jewelry manufacturing. The economic significance of these exports is underscored by their contribution to trade balances and the supply chains of key manufacturing sectors worldwide.
In 2023, the total refined silver exports amounted to 73,500 kilograms valued at $68.8 million, with bullion constituting the largest share at 57,400 kilograms and $48.9 million in value. Canada emerged as the top destination, receiving 29,100 kilograms of bullion valued at $24.5 million. Notably, South Africa showed a significant volume of dore exports at 3,940 kilograms worth $3.2 million, indicating active trade in semi-refined silver. Compared to 2022, where total exports were 276,000 kilograms valued at $210 million (revised figures), the 2023 data reflect a substantial decrease, likely influenced by market dynamics or changes in production and demand. Other prominent recipients included Germany with 13,800 kilograms (mostly bullion and dore) and Singapore with 4,110 kilograms, highlighting diverse international trade relationships.
