This table presents detailed information on the quantities and values of worked mica exported from the United States to various countries and localities, categorized into plates and sheets as well as other forms. This data is critical for understanding the economic and industrial significance of mica exports, as worked mica is widely used in electrical, automotive, and construction industries due to its insulating and heat-resistant properties. Tracking export trends helps stakeholders assess market demand, identify key trading partners, and make informed decisions regarding production and trade policies.
In 2023, total exports of plates and sheets increased modestly to 400 metric tons, valued at $10.9 million, compared to 362 metric tons and $10.7 million in 2022. Exports of other worked mica forms saw a more substantial rise, reaching 604 metric tons valued at $7.89 million, up from 441 metric tons and $5.65 million the previous year. Mexico remained the largest importer, receiving 111 metric tons of plates and sheets valued at $3.18 million and 229 metric tons of other forms worth $1.77 million. Canada also showed strong demand, with exports totaling 81 metric tons and $3.03 million in combined value. Notably, China imported a significant 85 metric tons of plates and sheets, though at a lower value of $780,000, indicating possible differences in product grade or pricing. These figures highlight a growing and diversified market for U.S. worked mica, with increased volumes and values reflecting expanding industrial applications abroad.
