This table presents the annual global helium production volumes, measured in million cubic meters, broken down by country or locality from 2019 through 2023. Helium is a critical industrial gas with diverse applications including medical imaging, scientific research, electronics manufacturing, and aerospace technology. Tracking production by country provides valuable insights into supply trends, resource availability, and potential shifts in the global helium market, which can affect pricing, trade policies, and strategic reserves.
Analysis of the data reveals that the United States remains the leading helium producer, with output fluctuating slightly but maintaining a high level, producing 81 million cubic meters in 2023 compared to 86 million cubic meters in 2019. Qatar has shown a consistent upward trend, increasing production from 45 million cubic meters in 2019 to 66 million cubic meters in 2023, solidifying its position as a major supplier. Canada’s helium production has notably increased from negligible levels in 2019 to 5 million cubic meters in 2023, indicating emerging capacity. Conversely, Australia’s production has declined sharply from 4 million cubic meters in 2019 to just 1 million cubic meters in 2023. Algeria’s output has also decreased over the period, from 14 million cubic meters in 2019 to 9 million cubic meters in 2023. Russia and Poland have maintained relatively stable production, with Russia increasing slightly to 8 million cubic meters in 2023. Overall, global helium production rose to 173 million cubic meters in 2023, marking a significant increase from 157 million cubic meters in 2019.
