U.S. Exports Of Refined Gold, By Country Or Locality

Home > Minerals > Gold

This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of refined gold exports from the United States to various countries and localities. It categorizes exports into ores and concentrates, dore and precipitates, and refined bullion, providing insight into the different forms in which gold is traded internationally. This data is crucial for understanding the economic impact of gold exports on the U.S. economy, as gold plays a significant role in financial markets, manufacturing, and technology sectors. Tracking these exports by destination helps identify key trade partners and market trends, informing policy decisions and industry strategies.

In 2023, the total U.S. exports of refined gold amounted to 252,000 kilograms valued at $15.8 billion, a notable decrease from the 420,000 kilograms valued at $24.2 billion in 2022. Switzerland emerged as the top recipient with 68,600 kilograms valued at $4.33 billion, followed by the United Kingdom with 115,000 kilograms valued at $7.2 billion, primarily in refined bullion. Australia also remained a significant partner, receiving 26,200 kilograms valued at $1.73 billion. The data reveals a shift in export composition, with refined bullion dominating the trade, accounting for 192,000 kilograms and $12.1 billion, while dore and precipitates and ores and concentrates were substantially lower. This trend underscores the U.S.'s role as a major supplier of high-purity gold to global markets, particularly to financial hubs and manufacturing centers in Europe and Asia.
