U.S. Imports For Consumption Of Hydrofluoric Acid, By Country Or Locality

Home > Minerals > Fluorspar

This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of hydrofluoric acid imported into the United States from various countries and localities for consumption. Hydrofluoric acid is a critical industrial chemical used in processes such as petroleum refining, glass etching, and the manufacture of refrigerants and pharmaceuticals. Tracking import volumes and values helps assess supply chain dynamics, trade dependencies, and market trends that influence domestic availability and pricing of this essential chemical.

Analysis of the data reveals that Mexico remains the dominant supplier, accounting for 74,400 metric tons valued at $181 million in 2023, despite a decrease in quantity from 87,900 metric tons in 2022. China showed a significant increase in imports, nearly doubling from 757 to 1,590 metric tons, with value rising from $1.08 million to $1.97 million. Germany and the United Kingdom also saw notable growth in both quantity and value, with Germany increasing imports by 33% to 838 metric tons and the UK nearly tripling to 1,070 metric tons. Conversely, imports from the Republic of Korea declined sharply from 2,140 to 816 metric tons, reflecting a substantial reduction in value. Overall, total import quantity decreased by about 12.6% to 86,800 metric tons, while total value slightly increased to $209 million, indicating higher unit prices or shifts in sourcing toward higher-value suppliers.
