This table presents data on the quantities and values of feldspar sold or used by producers in the United States, categorized by end use. Feldspar is a key industrial mineral widely utilized in the manufacture of glass, ceramics, pottery, and various miscellaneous applications such as fillers and extenders in paint, plastics, and rubber. Tracking these figures is important because feldspar’s demand reflects broader trends in manufacturing and construction sectors, influencing economic activity and resource management within the mineral industry.
In 2023, the total feldspar quantity sold or used increased to 460 thousand metric tons, up from 440 thousand metric tons in 2022, marking a modest growth in production and consumption. The value of feldspar also rose from $47.1 million to $49.2 million, indicating a positive trend in market demand or pricing. Notably, the ceramics, pottery, and miscellaneous category saw a significant increase in quantity from 210 to 230 thousand metric tons and a corresponding value rise from $22.7 million to $24.8 million, suggesting expanding applications or higher demand in these sectors. The glass segment remained steady at 230 thousand metric tons and $24.4 million in value, underscoring its consistent role in feldspar utilization. These trends highlight a gradual but steady growth in feldspar use across key industrial applications in the United States.
