Dimension Granite Sold Or Used By Producers In The United States, By State

Home > Minerals > Dimension Stone

This table presents data on the quantity and value of dimension granite sold or used by producers across various states in the United States. Dimension granite, a key natural stone resource, is widely utilized in construction, architectural applications, and monuments, making it an important economic commodity. Tracking production and sales by state helps to understand regional industry activity, resource distribution, and market trends, which are critical for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and economic analysts monitoring the health and development of the domestic dimension stone sector.

Analysis of the data reveals that total dimension granite production increased from 445,000 metric tons in 2021 to 491,000 metric tons in 2022, marking a notable rise in output. However, the total value of granite sold or used declined from $108 million to $102 million during the same period, suggesting a decrease in average prices or shifts in product mix. Georgia, one of the primary producers, saw a decrease in quantity from 115,000 to 98,100 metric tons and a slight drop in value from $11.3 million to $10.6 million. The category labeled "Other," which includes multiple states such as California, Texas, and Vermont, experienced an increase in quantity from 331,000 to 392,000 metric tons but a decline in value from $96.6 million to $91.2 million. Data for Vermont is withheld to protect proprietary information but is included in the "Other" totals. These trends indicate a growing production volume concentrated outside of Georgia, accompanied by downward pressure on prices or changes in market demand.
