U.S. Exports Of Refined Copper Semimanufactures And Copper Sulfate, By Country Or Locality

Home > Minerals > Copper

This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of U.S. exports of refined copper semimanufactures—including pipes and tubing, plates, sheets, foil, bars, bare wire, and stranded wire and cable—as well as copper sulfate, broken down by country or locality. This information is crucial for understanding the international trade dynamics of copper products, which are essential raw materials for industries such as electrical wiring, construction, and manufacturing. Tracking these exports helps gauge the health of the U.S. copper industry, informs trade policy decisions, and highlights key global markets that drive demand for refined copper products.

In 2021, Mexico and Canada remained the top destinations for U.S. refined copper semimanufactures, with Mexico receiving 7,700 metric tons of pipes and tubing valued at $84.8 million and 15,600 metric tons of plates, sheets, foil, and bars valued at $159 million. Canada imported 2,280 metric tons of pipes and tubing valued at $28.8 million and 6,030 metric tons of plates and sheets valued at $69.9 million. The total exports across all categories reached 18,500 metric tons of pipes and tubing valued at $208 million and 29,100 metric tons of plates, sheets, foil, and bars valued at $366 million. Notably, exports of bare wire were substantial, totaling 151,000 metric tons valued at $1.42 billion, with Mexico and Canada again leading imports. Copper sulfate exports were dominated by Taiwan and Korea, Republic of, with 1,170 and 1,630 metric tons respectively, valued at $18.5 million and $14.7 million. These figures reflect robust demand in North American markets and significant trade relationships with key Asian economies.
