This table presents detailed data on cement shipments to final customers across various U.S. states and territories, categorized by both destination and origin. It distinguishes between two primary types of cement: Portland and blended cement, and masonry cement. This information is crucial for understanding regional demand and supply dynamics within the construction and infrastructure sectors, which are significant drivers of economic activity. Tracking shipment volumes helps industry stakeholders, policymakers, and analysts assess market trends, plan production and distribution logistics, and make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and investment in the cement industry.
Analysis of the 2022 and 2023 data reveals several notable trends. Overall shipments of Portland and blended cement slightly decreased from 107,959 thousand metric tons in 2022 to 107,000 thousand metric tons in 2023, while masonry cement shipments also declined from 2,474 to 2,351 thousand metric tons. Texas, southern region, experienced a significant increase in Portland and blended cement shipments, rising from 8,701 to 10,800 thousand metric tons, indicating robust demand growth in that area. Conversely, Louisiana saw a notable decline from 2,404 to 1,738 thousand metric tons. Florida and Texas, northern, remain among the top destinations with high shipment volumes, though Florida’s shipments decreased slightly from 9,054 to 8,766 thousand metric tons. Imports from foreign countries and localities increased for Portland and blended cement, from 19,189 to 20,700 thousand metric tons, reflecting a growing reliance on imported cement. These shifts highlight regional variations in construction activity and supply chain adjustments within the U.S. cement market.

Table includes data available through March 18, 2025. Even where presented unrounded, data are thought to be accurate to no more than three significant digits. Includes cement produced from imported clinker and imported cement shipped by domestic producers and importers.
Data are developed from consolidated monthly surveys of shipments by companies and may differ from data in tables 1, 10–12, and 14–15, which are from annual surveys of individual plants and importers.
Has no cement plants.
Less than ½ unit.
May not add to totals shown because of independent rounding.
Includes shipments to U.S. possessions and territories.
Imported cement sold to final customers in the United States as reported by domestic producers and other importers. Data do not match the imports in tables 17–20.
Does not include sales of imported cement likely destined to “Texas, southern” by companies that do not report to the USGS.
Includes estimates for nonrespondents or facilities that provided incomplete information; data have been rounded to three significant digits.
