Exports of unwrought cadmium metal and powders increased from 51,300 kilograms valued at $145,000 in 2021 to 67,500 kilograms worth $252,000 in 2022, driven entirely by shipments to India, which went from no exports in 2021 to 67,500 kilograms in 2022. Conversely, wrought cadmium articles saw a significant decline, dropping from 217,000 kilograms valued at $661,000 in 2021 to 59,900 kilograms worth $227,000 in 2022, with India again being a major recipient but at much lower volumes than the previous year. Waste and scrap exports, which were zero in 2021, reached 2,440 kilograms valued at $45,000 in 2022, with the United Kingdom receiving the largest share. Cadmium pigments experienced a substantial increase in export value, rising from $36.7 million in 2021 to $73 million in 2022, with Mexico remaining the top destination by quantity (543,000 kilograms in 2022) and India showing a remarkable surge in value to $1.35 million despite relatively modest quantities. These trends highlight shifting demand and market focus, with India emerging as a significant new market for multiple cadmium product types.
