This table presents global bromine production figures broken down by country or locality over a five-year period from 2020 to 2024. Bromine is a critical industrial mineral used in flame retardants, drilling fluids, water treatment, and various chemical manufacturing processes. Tracking production levels by country provides valuable insights into supply trends, market dynamics, and the relative contributions of key producers, which are essential for economic planning, trade analysis, and resource management in industries dependent on bromine.
The data reveals that Israel remains the leading producer, with output fluctuating between 143,000 metric tons in 2023 and a projected rebound to 190,000 metric tons in 2024, indicating a significant recovery after a dip in 2023. China shows a steady increase from 70,000 metric tons in 2020 to an estimated 100,000 metric tons in 2024, underscoring its growing role in the bromine market. Jordan’s production has remained relatively stable, hovering around 112,000 to 119,000 metric tons annually. India’s output nearly doubled from 2,779 metric tons in 2020 to an estimated 7,000 metric tons in 2024, reflecting rapid growth in its bromine industry. Japan and Ukraine have maintained consistent production levels, while data for the United States is withheld due to proprietary concerns and thus excluded from totals. Overall, world bromine production is projected to reach 440,000 metric tons in 2024, marking a recovery from a 2023 dip and continuing an upward trend since 2020.

1Table includes data available through April 7, 2025; totals may include estimated data. All data are reported unless otherwise noted. Totals and estimated data are rounded to no more than three significant digits; may not add to totals shown.
2In addition to the countries and (or) localities listed, several other nations, including Iran, Russia, and Turkmenistan, may have produced bromine, but available information was inadequate to make reliable estimates of output.
3Fiscal year ends March 31.
