U.S. Exports Of Bismuth Compounds, Metal, Alloys, And Waste And Scrap, By Country Or Locality

Home > Minerals > Bismuth

This table provides detailed information on the quantities and values of U.S. exports of bismuth compounds, metal, alloys, and waste and scrap, broken down by country or locality. This data is crucial for understanding the international trade dynamics of bismuth, a metal used in pharmaceuticals, electronics, and specialty alloys. Tracking export volumes and values helps assess market demand, trade balances, and the economic impact of bismuth-related industries in the United States. It also informs policymakers and businesses about key trading partners and emerging trends in global supply chains.

Analysis of the 2023 data reveals several notable trends. Exports of bismuth nitrates increased from 1,960,000 kilograms valued at $1.5 million in 2022 to 2,160,000 kilograms worth $1.6 million in 2023, with Mexico remaining the largest importer at 1,710,000 kilograms valued at $1.28 million. The Republic of Korea also showed significant growth in nitrates exports, rising from 104,000 kilograms ($73,000) to 381,000 kilograms ($267,000). In contrast, exports of bismuth carbonate saw a sharp decline, dropping from 117,000 kilograms ($1.16 million) in 2022 to just 4,830 kilograms ($163,000) in 2023, with China’s imports falling dramatically from 115,000 kilograms to 2,500 kilograms. For metal, alloys, and waste and scrap, total exports decreased slightly from 503,000 kilograms ($7.44 million) to 460,000 kilograms ($7.11 million). Canada was the top destination, increasing exports from 96,800 to 135,000 kilograms and value from $1.64 million to $2.19 million, while Vietnam experienced a steep decline from 97,400 kilograms ($886,000) to 3,770 kilograms ($34,000). These shifts highlight changing demand patterns and evolving trade relationships in the bismuth market.
