This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of arsenic products imported into the United States, categorized by product type and country of origin. These statistics are crucial for understanding the supply chain dynamics of arsenic, a mineral used in various industrial applications such as semiconductor manufacturing, wood preservation, and agricultural chemicals. Monitoring import volumes and values helps stakeholders assess market trends, identify shifts in sourcing, and evaluate the economic impact of arsenic trade on domestic industries.
Analysis of the data reveals notable shifts between 2023 and 2024. Total imports of arsenic metal decreased from 612 metric tons valued at $1.62 million to 533 metric tons valued at $1.36 million, with China remaining the dominant supplier despite a reduction from 603 to 498 metric tons and a significant drop in value from $1.12 million to $510,000. Conversely, imports from Chile increased markedly from 3 to 13 metric tons, with value rising from $53,000 to $271,000. Arsenic compounds saw a substantial increase in gross weight imports, rising from 3,050 metric tons in 2023 to 5,550 metric tons in 2024, and value increasing from $1.98 million to $2.49 million. Malaysia led arsenic acid imports with a 46% increase in volume to 9,720 metric tons and a value rise to $8.64 million. Arsenic trioxide imports also surged, particularly from China, which more than doubled its volume from 1,590 to 3,980 metric tons, though the value per ton decreased. These trends indicate evolving sourcing patterns and growing demand for arsenic compounds in the U.S. market.
