This table presents detailed data on the quantities and values of antimony metal, alloys, and waste and scrap imported into the United States, broken down by country or locality for the years 2021 and 2022. This information is critical for understanding the supply chain dynamics of antimony, a key industrial metal used in flame retardants, batteries, and alloys. Tracking import trends helps policymakers and industry stakeholders assess market dependencies, identify shifts in global trade patterns, and make informed decisions regarding resource security and economic planning.
Analysis of the data reveals that total imports of unwrought antimony increased from 7,480 metric tons valued at $69.5 million in 2021 to 8,300 metric tons valued at $95.3 million in 2022, indicating both higher volume and price per unit. China remained the dominant supplier, with imports rising from 1,740 to 2,410 metric tons and value increasing from $16.6 million to $31.3 million. Oman showed a significant surge in imports, more than doubling from 424 to 1,000 metric tons and increasing in value from $3.93 million to $12.6 million. Conversely, imports from Burma dropped sharply from 457 to 90 metric tons, while India’s imports declined from 2,100 to 1,170 metric tons. The United Kingdom also saw a notable increase, with imports rising from 248 to 1,660 metric tons. Waste and scrap imports, although much smaller in quantity, grew substantially in value from $48,000 to $378,000, driven largely by increased imports from Mexico, which rose from 12 to 70 metric tons. These shifts highlight evolving trade relationships and potential changes in global production and recycling practices for antimony.
