This table presents detailed information on the quantities and values of antimony metal, alloys, and waste and scrap exported from the United States to various countries and localities. Tracking these exports is crucial for understanding the U.S. position in the global antimony market, which is significant due to antimony’s applications in flame retardants, batteries, and alloys that enhance metal properties. The data helps policymakers, industry stakeholders, and economists assess trade balances, identify key trading partners, and monitor shifts in demand and supply dynamics within this specialized metal sector.
Analysis of the data reveals a substantial increase in total exports of unwrought antimony from 921 metric tons valued at $4.28 million in 2021 to 1,820 metric tons worth $7.17 million in 2022, effectively doubling the volume and showing a 67% increase in value. Canada emerged as the top destination, with exports soaring from 347 metric tons ($1.07 million) to 902 metric tons ($2.81 million), highlighting its critical role in U.S. antimony trade. Mexico also showed strong growth, with exports rising from 411 metric tons ($2.39 million) to 557 metric tons ($2.88 million). Noteworthy increases occurred in exports to China (from negligible to 57 metric tons valued at $175,000), India (from 1 metric ton to 13 metric tons valued at $101,000), and Japan (from 8 metric tons to 29 metric tons valued at $150,000). Conversely, exports of antimony waste and scrap declined sharply from 136 metric tons valued at $676,000 in 2021 to just 26 metric tons valued at $66,000 in 2022, indicating a potential shift in trade patterns or domestic recycling practices.
