Arsenic Trioxide: World Production, By Country Or Locality

Home > Minerals > Arsenic

This table presents global production figures for arsenic trioxide, broken down by country or locality, over the period from 2020 to 2024. Arsenic trioxide is a critical industrial chemical used primarily in the manufacture of pesticides, wood preservatives, and in the semiconductor industry. Tracking production volumes by country provides valuable insights into supply dynamics, trade flows, and potential shifts in the global market. This data is essential for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and analysts to understand resource availability, assess economic dependencies, and plan for strategic reserves or regulatory measures.

Analysis of the data reveals that China remains the dominant producer, consistently generating around 24,000 to 25,000 metric tons annually, accounting for a significant portion of the world total. Peru has shown a notable upward trend, increasing production from 19,014 metric tons in 2020 to an estimated 31,000 metric tons in 2024, reflecting a strong growth trajectory. Morocco’s output, after a decline from 7,694 metric tons in 2020 to 5,450 metric tons in 2022, rebounded slightly to an estimated 6,000 metric tons in 2024. Belgium’s production has remained stable at 1,000 metric tons annually, while Bolivia’s production ceased after 2021. The total world production rose steadily from 52,300 metric tons in 2020 to an estimated 62,500 metric tons in 2024, indicating growing global demand or expanded mining activities.

1Table includes data available through May 21, 2025. All data are reported unless otherwise noted; totals may include estimated data. Totals and estimated data are rounded to no more than three significant digits; may not add to totals shown.

2Includes calculated arsenic trioxide equivalent of output of elemental arsenic compounds other than arsenic trioxide; inclusion of such materials would not duplicate reported arsenic trioxide production.

3In addition to the countries and (or) localities listed, Germany and other countries or localities may have produced arsenic, but available information was inadequate to make reliable estimates of output.
