Definition: In diesem Eintrag wird die kumulative Summe aller staatlichen Kreditaufnahmen abzüglich der Rückzahlungen erfasst, die auf die Landeswährung eines Landes lauten. Öffentliche Schulden sollten nicht mit Auslandsschulden verwechselt werden, die die Fremdwährungsverbindlichkeiten sowohl des privaten als auch des öffentlichen Sektors widerspiegeln und aus Deviseneinnahmen finanziert werden müssen.
