Definizione: Questa voce registra il totale cumulativo di tutti i prestiti governativi meno i rimborsi che sono denominati nella valuta nazionale di un paese. Il debito pubblico non deve essere confuso con il debito estero, che riflette le passività in valuta estera del settore pubblico e privato e deve essere finanziato dai guadagni in valuta estera.
