Source: U.S. Census Bureau, 2010 Census of Population, Public Law 94-171 Redistricting Data File. Updated every 10 years. http://factfinder2.census.gov.

Definition:

Age classification is based on the age of the person in complete years as of April 1, 2010.

The first release of Census 2010 data on age, from the Redistricting Data file, identifies only one age category: 18 years and over. Additional age categories will be published in summer 2001.

Scope and Methodology:

The data on age were derived from answers to a question that was asked of all people in Census 2010. The age of the person was usually derived from their date of birth information.
