A New York Times article about environmental destruction in Uzbekistan mentions that water diversion for cotton farming is one of the main factors behind the shrinkage of the Aral Sea.

I just released a new agricultural production statistics section with international data sourced from the United States Department of Agriculture. Only production graphs are available for now. I’ll add variables such as exports, imports, consumption, etc. as time permits.
